Halloween Fun!

I am starting my post today with a Halloween layout that I made using Doodlebug and a paper piece from Bella Blvd. I used cheesecloth to mimic cobwebs for the spiders. I think I am going to add two more spiders on the bottom to give more detail.
I like to be crafty outside of cards and layouts too so I am going to share two of my recent Halloween creations. First is a mummy jar for a candle or goodies....or whatever!
I took strips of cheesecloth and mod podged them onto the jar. I glued on googly eyes and there it is! So easy!

I bought the supplies for this last year and never got around to making it. I finally put it together this weekend, with plenty of time to spare before Halloween! I took a cauldron and filled the bottom with crumpled newspaper. I covered a metal pie plate with foam that is used to fill cracks. While it was wet I stuck various spooky things into it and left it to dry. After a couple of hours I painted the foam, which was orignally a cream colour, a sickly green colour. This was tricky since I had to get into the grooves and around the spooky things. It took awhile to complete the paint but it was worth it!

I got the eyes, ants, spiders, and worms at Dollarama. I love how it turned out and now I have a fun centerpiece for my Halloween party!

Creative Days!!!

I made this card and the Christmas layout today. I had the creative spirit in me and zipped these two projects off in no time- which is what I have these days, no time. My son is on the no sleep schedule again. That leaves me with very little "me" time.

I used the Bella Blvd. Christmas line to make both the card and the layout. I added some stickles to the card and a little bow.
I punched circles from different papers and cardstock for this layout and then added stickers with pop dots. The picture is of my most photogenic cat, Hobbes. He always looks so handsome in photos!

I made this layout using the new Doodlebug fall line. I copied this layout from the one I made a few weeks back which was scraplifted from the Doodlebug blog. This time I mixed the colours throughout the circle, rather than make four the coloured segments.
I used the title from last year's fall line and the quote is from the rub-on collection that came out a number of years ago. How cute are the new epoxy shapes??!!!! I also used washi tape at the bottom. I just love the colours!!!

Fall is definitely here now. I think I heard snow for this weekend......eeks! Hopefully not the kind that stays.....

Festive Layouts

I have two layouts to share today! My first layout is made with Bella Blvd.'s new Christmas line. I love how this layout turned out. My base paper has a pretty busy pattern on it but it complimented my photo so well. To help draw focus to the photo I used a more neutral green paper around it. I used the stickers from this line as well for journaling.

I cut the santa from the border paper. The hearts on the page are pop dotted.
This picture of my husband and I was taken in the ball hanging on our Christmas tree. I have scrapped a similar photo before. I love this photo idea!

Do you recognize this layout format? Yep, I have made a second one! I posted this layout with different pictures and different paper a few weeks ago. I loved the look so I did it again but with pictures of my son and the new Doodlebug Halloween line! The paper embellishments are Bella Blvd. I added some cheese cloth to the 2 Day one and tucked a spider paper in behind the D so it is peeking out! I also added some enamel dots at the bottom right.
I adore Halloween! I cannot wait to plan this year's costume and the yard- candy is already purchased!!! So I am just a little excited....

Here's to a beautiful week of crafting!

Christmas 2013

I made this layout of my son on Christmas morning last year. I used the Doodlebug line from a few years ago with some embellishments from last year. The great thing is that it all coordinates so you can mix and match!
I am still loving those enamel dots and I use them in most of my pages. I really like the new ones from Doodlebug with the sparkles! I added a glitter border on top of the poisettia paper. The two stickers beside the photo are pop dotted.

Below is another card I made using the new Bella Blvd. Christmas line. I added some bling and pop dotted the stickers. How cute is that reindeer???!!!!

                                                          Have a great weekend!

A Whole Lotta Stuff!

Because I am such a proud mamma, I want to share my son's first art projects. We joined a play group and he painted for the first time and made a fall craft project- too cute!

Now for serious business.....I made two cards with Bella's new Christmas line. I totally adore this line; I seriously love the colours and the cute factor! I did add some bling to both cards and the card above has an Echo Park tree sticker.

I also made two cards with Doodlebug's new fall line. I also love, love, love the colours and the cute critters in this line. A few stickers are from last year's line but most of it is new stuff. I am still feeling that fall/ Christmas vibe so stay tuned for more!

Speech Bubble Birthday Card

Hello again! Good grief- Where did this week go???? We got a shot of warm weather and so I just had to take advantage of it! I did make a card using Jillibean Soup's Birthday Bisque and some paper from We R Memory Keepers. I added some Doodlebug sprinkles too.

I live in Winnipeg, which is also known as Winter-peg to many, but we do have gorgeous summers and no, we do not live in igloos. Our zoo just opened a journey to churchill exhibit which is pretty cool. Here is a picture I took of the two polar bears wrestling in the water. Love or hate them (zoos), it does allow us to get a close up look on these beautiful creatures and perhaps lead to a greater appreciation for wildlife in general. At least that is my hope.

Since it has been so nice, we have been spending all our time in the yard and at the park. Here is my son getting dirty in the garden. I love that he is an outdoorsy boy!!! So there you have it- my week of non- creating!

Cards on Friday!

Happy Friday everyone! I am going to pat myself on the back here because I think I made two pretty cute cards.....hope you agree! My two fav. companies are represented: Doodlebug and Bella Blvd.
Above is Doodlebug and below is Bella with a few Dodlebug stickers and twine thrown in. I LOVE Halloween (as I always mention!!) so I made this card just for fun. The witch is cute and not too scary at all so it is a nice kid friendly card. My nephew's birthday is this month so I made the card below for him. I always need birthday cards.....at least one a month. That makes it hard to stock up. I really need to work on that! :0 Have a great weekend!

Christmas: Special Delivery Layout

Here is that Christmas layout that I was making last week. I finally finished it yesturday. I realized today that I am a single photo scrapper.....meaning I tend to only scrap one photo in a layout. I wonder if I should try to branch out or if that is what defines my style of scrapping????
I like one photo in layout though. I feel it draws attention to the photo and I think the photos I choose to scrap are rather cute and should be the center of attention- maybe because they are mostly of my handsome little peanut!!!

I also like space on my layouts so the paper has some room to show itself too. Let's face it- they make the cutest paper now!!! Like how cute are these stockings.....
This layout was made with Crate Paper's Bundled Up line. The Christmas title is by Me&My Big Ideas, which might tell you how old it is..... and the poinsettias are Jolees Boutique. I stamped the date and then made some shadow stamps around it. It is so cold out right now it feels like snow and snow means Christmas--EEEKS!!! SOOOOO not ready....

Halloween Pocket Pages

I have been working on a Halloween album forever! I started with the few childhood photos I have and scrapped them and now I am on to present day. I take pictures every Halloween now so I can finish this album. When I was growing up, obviously there were no digital cameras- just film! So when you took a picture you could not tell if it turned out, you just had to hope for the best. Of all the technology out there, I think I like digital cameras the best! (But truth be told, film is still better quality, I think.) This style of scrapbooking is very popular right now and super easy- that is probably why I made 2 pages during my son's nap! Two years ago I dressed up as a zombie on Halloween night. It was so fun! I did not do it last year since I did not want to scare my son, but maybe this year....

When making pocket pages, too much bulk is not a good idea but some dimension is ok. Sprinkles and pop dotted stickers were still able to fit into the pockets.

On the purple spider paper with the photo, I cut out some cheese cloth and draped it over the top to imitate spider webs. This page was done using all Doodlebug from various lines.

This layout is very simple. I had these photos of our house at Halloween, which I did not think would make for an exciting full scrap page. This style of scrapping let me get them into an album without the lengthy process of a full page. The title is simple and the photos are the focus. I used Bella Blvd. for this page.  Are you in the Halloween spirit now?????

Trick or Treat Layout

Here is a Saturday post since I did not have time to post yesturday! I made a Halloween layout rather than work on that Christmas one I started.....what can I say, I am easily distracted! I used a sketch from Becky Fleck's Page Maps for September for this layout. This line from Doodlebug made it easy to put this layout together since the stickers were already the perfect size and shape! A few elements are pop dotted and I added some twine to the spider for a web look. At the bottom right, I attached black sprinkles. I really like the black layering under the orange paper and the striped banner- it just pops! Happy weekend!
