Card Sketch Contest with Christmas Doodlebug

I used a card sketch from Becky Fleck's blog to make this card for a contest she is running. I REALLY loved Santa's Workshop by Doodlebug from last year!! I can't wait for this year's line to arrive in stores because it looks just as cute! I pop dotted the Santa sticker and used Doodle twine to join the reindeer. I outlined the stars and Merry at the bottom with a black Sharpie to make it stand out. I used scalloped scissors to cut the pink paper for a stamp look like Becky's sketch.

Here is her sketch:

Happy Halloween with Doodlebug Mini Monsters!

I apologize if my pictures are a touch blurry! I think I am deleriously tired tonight! Our neighbour's car alarm went off every ten minutes from 2am until 6am this morning. I had the worst sleep ever and was a bit of a grouch today! I did manage to make this layout tonight but had to photograph it in my scraproom which does not have great lighting in the evening.

Anyways, I used last year's Halloween paper from Doodlebug to make this layout. I just LOVE these mini monsters!!! I ripped the top of the orange paper and folded the corner at the bottom. I used a Cut Out for the title and a Cute Cut for my journaling. The spider sticker has Doodle twine attached to the back and I looped it up the side of the page and adhered it with tiny dots of liquid glue.
I pop dotted these mini monsters behind their heads to add dimension. I cut them out from a Cut Out and tucked them behind my title.

School is starting and I have noticed leaves on the roads. Going back to school always has a fall feeling. I can't believe it is September this week! I guess that is what got me thinking Halloween!!!

Cricut Birthday Cards

I had a small window of time to make 2 birthday cards today. I used my Cricut machine and the cartridge: Create A Critter to make the animals. I used a Fiskers border punch on this whale card on different shades of blue cardstock to simulate waves in the ocean. I added Glossy Accents to the whale's spout and made a few of my own water splashes to give a little dimension.

Here is the inside sentiment:

Next, I made a cute giraffe and some leaves to make this card. I was not sure of a sentiment so I used a Deja Views birthday sticker. I rounded 2 corners of the card as well.

 This is the inside:

Not the most technical cards but cute enough to give to youngsters!!!
Hope you are having a sunny weekend!

Fancy Pants Sketch Contest with Doodlebug

Whew, I have been busy! I made another layout this morning  for a sketch contest that Becky Fleck is running on her blog. I used Doodlebug paper and products from the Sweet Love and Sweet Treat lines.
I added bling and a pearl to the flower centers on both Cute Cuts. I pop dotted the pink heart and the sweetie tag. The words are Doodlebug stickers. Dividing the 2 background papers is a Doodlebug frill sticker.

I braved my handwriting today and added some journaling at the bottom of my photo. I also used a corner rounder on the XOXO paper and my photos.

Here is Becky's sketch:

Frosty Fun!

I was in my local scrap store and saw a layout using this paper and it really caught my eye so I bought the paper, which is from My Minds Eye: Indie Chic. The cardstock is Bazzill. I thought this picture was perfect for the design I had in mind. We were in a snowstorm out in the middle of a frozen lake taking pictures- leave it to a scrapbooker to come up with crazy photo ops!!!

I do not sew on my projects because I just do not have the patience but I really wanted to have the right look so I broke down and used my sewing machine here. I used white thread and sewed lines across all sides of each square. I think it turned out beautifully but will I do it more often- hmmmmm, so much easier to draw the stitching!!!!

I used white felt snowflakes cut from a garland from Little Yellow Bicycle and my title is felt fusion from Queen & Co. The bling in the snowflakes are from My Minds Eye: Follow Your Heart. The lace- I have no clue!

Becky Fleck's Blog Refresher Sketch Contest

I made this layout early this morning because sleeping in was not happening! I followed a sketch by Becky Fleck for this layout and I used paper and stickers from Echo Park's Hello Summer line.

I stickled the swirl in the sun sticker to give it some sparkle! I layered 2 cloud stickers under it and pop dotted the "Hello Summer" sticker.

I used a brown Sharpie pen to make the faux stitching around the page. Way easier than pulling out my threads and setting up the sewing machine or doing it by hand so this is the cheater's way!!!

I used an EK Sucess border punch on the blue dot paper. I used stickers for journaling instead of my printing. And here is Becky's sketch that was posted on her blog- Thanks Becky!!!!

Happy Birthday and Nature

Here is a quick card I put together for my sister-in-law who is 39 and holding!!!! I used Imaginisce
birthday paper. Love the bright, happy colours!

I was away from my blog all week because I was soaking up the sun while camping in one of Canada's lovely campgrounds- Blue lake, Ontario. Is this guy totally symbolic of summer or what??!!!

Sunsets are such a nice reminder of the beauty of our planet. And nothing is better than a sunset on a beach!

I was not sure about taking this picture because I am an animal lover and while it is so neat to see a black bear in the wild and up close, it breaks my heart to see the impact we have on wildlife. Bears are not meant to eat our garbage but when we make a garbage dump in the middle of their homes, they scavenge out of convenience. This is our ugly truth- look at all that garbage and what struck me is that cardboard can be recycled so what is it doing there!!! Certainly food for thought......

Just One Of Those Days!

I was so excited about this layout! It came together quickly and I was ready to take my pictures and then I dropped it on the floor. Can you see the little label on the bottom? Well, there is a little red truck under there with a huge smear of black across it. Boy, do I hate it when things get wrecked. I won't blame my scrappin' kitty, although she was driving me nuts at the time of my "accident". I like to say that moments like these are creative opportunities but they are certainly frustrating!!!! Anyways......

I used the Echo park line called So Happy Together. The base paper was called Neighborhood.
I embellished the page with some of the stickers that came with this collection. I pop dotted a cloud sticker that is partially over the sun. The help the sun pop, I added a button and some Doodletwine.

I used a border sticker to divide my 2 photos and I used some flag stickers along the side. It does not show in this picture but I also stickled the tiny flowers on all the stickers.

I used American Crafts Thickers for the word Home from Amy Tangerine's Goodness.
I thought about adding some more embellishments but with my luck today it would probably cause problems so I am stopping while I am ahead! It is just one of those days......

My New Scrap Room!!!

My scrap room has been done for a little while but it was chaos in there until today. I tried to do some tidying and organizing. I will admit that I did not get rid of a whole lot like I had planned. It is really tough to know what to get rid of because you never know...... but I did get rid of alot of magazines that were pre-2009. I figured I am probably not going to go back in time to look at ideas.

So this is workspace #1. I bought my furniture at IKEA. I have a single EXPEDIT bookshelf beside my desk and a paper rack on the other side which I purchased from Hobby Lobby. The rack above the desk holds my jars of buttons which are separated by colour. I have a spice rack on my desk that holds pieces of ribbon.

These 2 photos are of workspace #2 where I have my Cricut machines and my sewing machine. It is the EXPEDIT shelf with the desk attachment. I have not completely organized my stuff in this shelf unit yet. So far I have photo albums, scrapbooks, scrap magazines, and my Cricut Cartridges in there (plus some junk). On top, I have boxes full of  ribbon separated by colour.

This side of my room is the cube storage that I purchased at Michaels. It holds my 12x12 paper which I also separate into colours, both patterned and cardstock. The shelf above holds all my cards in boxes and more ribbon.

This side of my room are plastic drawers that hold all my embellishments (stickers, letters, chipboard, etc.). I store many of my tools on this side as well. (embossing folders, die cuts, punches, Zutter, etc.) I divide my embellishments into themes like summer, winter, love, Halloween, etc.

I bought this wall decor at Hobby Lobby. It is like a rub-on and was very easy to apply. It is a pretty popular quote which resonates with me.

This is the view from my door of my room. I do not get a whole lot of natural light as my window is small and I am in the basement. I am lucky enough to have my own room for creating though so I know I am lucky!

All the shelves were from IKEA as well. I will probably add on to my room as soon as IKEA opens here in Winnipeg- only a few more months!!!!!

The lamp was from IKEA and so cheap! It gives a nice soft light for this work area.

I have to say that I really love my EXPEDIT furniture. I bought these purple storage boxes that fit perfectly inside so I can hide some of my non-scrappy craft items. Notice that red blanket- yep, I sewed that! I love being crafty!!!!

Remember my old room........What a difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
