Becky Fleck Sketch Challenge

On Scrapbook & Cards Today's blog they posted a sketch challenge using one of Becky Fleck's sketches. This is my layout following her favorite sketch from Page Maps 2. I used Doodlebug's Valentines line from this year and last year.

I used Doodlebug stickers rather than journaling a whole column. I used a binder punch on the Sweethearts paper.

Doodlebug had a banner sticker on the sticker sheet from last year that was just so cute. I added some bling at the tied end. I also used border stickers above and below the strip of Sweethearts paper.

This is the design that I used from Page Maps 2 by Becky Fleck. Using a sketch is definitely an easy way to get started on a layout. I will now refer to this book whenever I am stuck for a design idea since it helps to make the job go by so much quicker!

Doodlebug Sketch Challenge

I made a card for the Doodlebug sketch challenge in March awhile back but I wanted to do a layout as well and finally found some time today to work on it. I have realized that I really do not have many quality photos of my husband and I. I tend to take pictures of us with my arm outstretched so they end up being close ups of our goofy faces. One of my goals this year is to use my tri-pod and get some good shots of the two of us together.

This line was called Coldspell from a few years ago but I love snowflakes so it is still one of my favorite lines from Doodlebug. I used a snowflake Doodle Pop layered on top of a plastic diecut snowflake.

I used stickers from this line for the title and added a swirl and some snowflakes to add something extra to the title.

Following the sketch I added a snowflake sticker at the top right corner as well. The visual triangle on the page are the snowflakes and the title so that they eyes are drawn around the page. I also learned this weekend at Crop & Create that a little touch of black anchors the page so my journaling is in black. Apparently that is a rule in house design as well- who knew!

Warm Weather Inspiration

Somehow I managed to make 2 more cards in between cleaning my crazy scrap room and putting the furniture in it. Let me just say that I have toooooooooo much stuff! But how do I get rid of anything???? Especially scrapbooking stuff. I must have over a hundred magazines and really should get rid of the ones from 10 years ago but then I think "what if I need to see something?" Oh well, somehow I will make it work in there!

Both cards are all Doodlebug except for the Pebbles Inc. Rub-on. I stickled these flowers and used a ladybug Braddie on this card. I also rounded the corners on the card for something a little different.

I thought I would showcase some of the pages I have done on my lovely cats of course! This is my cuddle monkey Hobbes. A while back Doodlebug came out with a cat and dog line and obviously I bought everything I could get my hands on. I used a Doodlebug headline for the title. There is some cardstock in this layout that is Bazzill I believe. I also used grommets along the side.

This layout was done using a cat line from S.E.I. and some cardstock. The swirly sticker and hearts are Doodlebug though...somehow I manage to use something Doodlebug in almost everything I do! This is my chubby boy Taz.

This layout is Doodlebug and I used both a Doodlebug headline and rub-ons. For some reason my Tazzy likes to lay on his back. He is just hilarious!

This layout was made using Doodlebug products again from the cat line from a few years back. This was a much younger and slimmer Taz!

This is my scrappin` kitty Tao. Some of the paper is from Bo Bunny and not sure about the orange one. It is difficult to find nice cat themed scrap stuff. Dogs definitely seem more popular in the scrap world.
I am off to Crop & Create tomorrow- yahoo!

More Doodle Cards

Here are 2 more cards from my day of inspiration! Now I am trying to use up the scraps from the papers I cut last time. Isn't Doodlebug just the best!!! The products just keep getting better and better!

Pebbles Inc. makes some rub-ons that are perfect for cards which is where I got this greeting from.
Bling and glitter.....makes me smile!

I am still in mini card mode and will have some more to post shortly. I am trying to assemble the first of my IKEA furniture pieces so I am caught between creating and setting up my room of chaos! I also want to mention that I will be at Crop&Create Winnipeg this weekend and I am so excited to be inspired by the amazing ladies at Scrapbook & Cards Today. I am signed up for 6 classes so I am extremly thrilled to learn many amazing new techniques. I cannot wait!!! Please check back because I will be posting my photos of this amazing event.

Doodle Card Crazy!

I had a very creative outburst today! I thought I would make a few cards to have on hand for those occasions that pop up when you need to recognize someone special in your life. I seem to be on a mission to use my Doodlebug products rather than hoard them so I tried to limit myself to JUST Doodlebug.

This card is made with mostly Doodlebug but I did stray and use a rub-on from Pebbles Inc. and some blue cardstock from Bazzill.

I began with just the black and white theme here but then thought about my monochromatic style and decided to play around with some colour. I think it worked out- at least it is different from what I would normally do!

I cut a big strip of the black and white paper so I wanted to use it up so I made a second card. I kept this one a little more simple with mostly black and white. I love mixing black and purple together so I wish Doodlebug had done Happy Birthday in purple but this blue looked pretty cute too!

I cut these little cards at 4" x 4" which probably helped me to make them so quickly. I started out as a scrapbooker and slowly got hooked on making cards too. I spend so much time on a scrap page and it seems to take forever, whereas making cards is like instant gratification. It took me only an hour and a bit to make all four of these cuties! Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Winter Wonder

I recently purchased Page Maps 2 by Becky Fleck. So today I picked a sketch to use for my layout. I have to admit I actually finished something in just over an hour! Using a sketch really takes some of the pressure off! This is the sketch I used for my page.

I used all Bella products from the Winter Wishes line. The only Doodlebug product on the page is the twine. When I get my pictures printed I try to print in a variety of sizes so I am not limited to 4x6.
These pictures are 3x4 in size.

Banners have been a pretty popular trend and I have jumped on the band wagon! They are a cute way to add words or to give a page something extra. I used stickers from the Winter Wonder Alpha + Bits and Just Write Journalling Stickers to embellish my page. I love that collections like this one come with embellishments that can be used in a variety of ways. I also just LOVE stickers!!!

I am not a big fan of my own handwriting in my journalling so I used some of the word stickers instead. I added the tab sticker and the heart sticker too.

The scalloped border is 3 separate border stickers stuck together. I added another tab sticker in the middle picture to offset the journalling on the other side. Sketches are wonderful ways to start the creative process- and I did not have to walk away before finishing my page! Yahoo!

Paradise Found

Here is my creation for today! It took me 2 days to figure out what I wanted to do with this layout. Here is my usual process: I start with a picture and then I pick paper. For some reason I usually have to walk away or set it aside for a bit while I contemplate the final look. It takes some playing around and tests before it feels 'just right'. And of course, sometimes I add to a page long after I made it. Today, I played around with my cricut machine and the cartride Straight From The Nest which is how I got the swirls and vine. The paper is from Bo Bunny Country Gardens.

I added small Doodlebug flowers on the vine and made some veins on the leaves with a Sharpie marker.

In the center of the flowers I used pearls from KaiserKraft. The rub-on is from Doodlebug.

The title is a headline sticker from Doodlebug and the sticker dots came with the headline too. This is one of my absolute fav. pictures of my husband and I. We were in Ko Phi Phi, Thailand at the top of a big hill overlooking the ocean. We wanted to see the sun set but it was kind of cloudy. My hair was so crazy in Thailand because of the humidity so this is my hair-au natural! I absolutely recommend a vacation to Thailand- so cheap once you are there and there are SO many beautiful beaches and sites to check out!

Doodlebug Challenge Card

On the Doodlebug website they posted a "Doodle Challenge" for March. Here is my take on the card sketch. I used 100% Doodlebug product which is not hard to do since it is, by far, my favorite company! I love that the colours coordinate in each line so they can be used interchangably.

I used Doodle twine under the balloons. I used a Doodle headline sticker for the word. I think I bought pretty much all of the rub-ons and headlines when they came out a few years back. I LOVE using them on my scrap pages.

The banner is from last year's birthday line of border stickers. They already came with glitter!

I used more birthday border sticker here and a button from the Nifty Notions button assortment. I hope you find a way to celebrate today and everyday!

Bo Bunny Ambrosia card

My scrap room is still a work in progress but I managed to get something crafty done today! I spent the week painting and touching things up and was unable to do anything crafty until today! I made a card for a 95th birthday. I used new Bo Bunny paper from the Ambrosia line.

I added ribbon with Sookwan tape and I used a birthday rub-on from KaiserKraft.
Can you see the stickles? I traced over all the swirls with crystal stickles- my fav!

In the flower centers I added a pearl bling in either light pink or dark pink. The two butterflies are Doodlebug stickers and I added stickles on the body. I think it has a soft vintage appeal which will be perfect for my great aunt on her 95th birthday next weekend.
