Fall Doodlebug Cards

Fall Greetings on this last weekend of summer fun. Kids are going back to school so it is feeling fallish, even with the sun shining!!!

I have two cute little fall cards to share today. I actually meant to post on Thursday but was too busy enjoying the last spurt of hot weather! I used the fall line from last year by Doodlebug. I am so excited for their new stuff to come, by the way! The sentiment in the card above is from PaperStudio and the twine was Karen Foster but everything else is Doodlebug. Below I used burlap from PaperStudio and kraft paper from ??? The card below was inspired by a card posted on the Doodlebug blog by Amanda Coleman. I could not get my hands on the turkey from this line but the hedgehog was pretty darn cute too!

                                                        Have a terrific long weekend!

One Fall Day

So I was feeling fall-ish and I busted out the fall Doodlebug from last year and I created this scrap-lifted layout of my son. The picture was last year and he was only 6 weeks old!!!! Wow, has he changed! I copied this layout from Melinds Spinks' layout on the Doodlebug blog. I used the same colours and layout design with some of my own changes. I used a title and a quote from Doodlebug to encircle my leaf mosiac. I used washi tape at the top and bottom of the page. Some of the leaves are stickers or doodlepops, or they are cut out/ punched out from patterned paper.

For the circle part of this layout, I traced around a Christmas plate very lightly with pencil. I filled in the circle and then erased the lines. I think my circle is bigger than the original layout since I had to add way more leaves to fill it in.

I want to say Happy Fall but I am not quite ready to face no more summer!!!

Life is Beauty Full

Well, it seems as though fall has arrived after the rainy, cool weekend we just had! Kids are going back to school, September is basically here, leaves are falling, and the geese are doing their fall routine. Literally, I think it was the shortest summer in history!!! It was so late and now it is over.....I will admit that I did not take a moment for granted. We were outside everyday and we did lots of fun things. That translates into many, many photos to scrap!!! I am feeling fallish now though so I may pull out my fall collections this week.

Here is a summer photo of our camping trip. My son was playing on the play structure at the beach as the sun was going down. I used Pebbles paper and stickers from last year for this layout. I added some vellum too. I thought the wood grain paper was perfect for the wood of the stairs in the photo.
The page is fairly clean and I am still debating on making it more complex. So many layouts to make, so little time!!!!

Cards on Tuesday!

Am I a little early or what??? For some reason I wanted to think about Christmas cards yesturday....I only made one and then came to my senses!!! For me, it is way too early to think about December but for some, it is time to start planning. Even the stores have Halloween stuff trickling in-eeks! That means summer is not here for much longer. To even out my Christmas card, I also made a camping themed card to hold onto that summer feeling a bit longer!

Above, I used Bella Blvd. paper and sentiment sticker with Doodlebug snowflake doodle pops.
Below, I used Jillibean Soup. I fussy cut a second camper and layered it on top of the original to give some dimension to my card. What a good sentiment to remember as we journey through this crazy life!

Beach Baby

I meant to post this layout on Friday but time got away on me. So here is a sunny layout for a gloomy Monday morning (where I am anyways). Here is my son playing on the beach in the evening. I am trying not to be one of those mom's who freaks out because of dirt and messiness. Therefore, I let my son have fun in the water and in the sand despite the fact that he was wearing clothes. He was so happy that I could only be happy too.....that is, until I had to clean him up at the campsite! That part was a little less fun.

I used Echo Park paper and stickers for this layout. The embellsihments are Jolees Boutique. I have piles of those things and never think to pull them out. I like the texture of the sandcastle for this layout- kind of makes it feel sandy!

Flower Thank You Card

I am sharing a little card I made using Echo Park Sweet Summertime. I stickled the blue flower and added sprinkles to the ones at the top corner. I pop dotted the sentiment as well. Just something quick to share today. I have been working on a layout for a couple of days but I just cannot get enough time to finish it!!! Some days are like that I guess. Hope you are finding the time to get your craft on!

Hello Summer Days Layout

I am so happy to be scrapping my summer photos! I am pretty proud of myself for staying on top of my son's albums. Now that he is over the first year, I am making album number 2. His first year album is not fully finished yet but it has most of the important highlights from his first year. It is so crazy to see how much he has changed.....it does goes fast! When times have been tough, I reminded myself that I will never go through this again because he just keeps growing (and getting better in my opinion)! That is the best part of scrapbooking- looking back and remembering things with beautiful pages that reflect those good and bad times.

So for my layout, I used Echo Park's line Country Drive with some other Echo Park tidbits thrown in. I pop dotted the bird on the journaling by adding the same bird sticker on top of the bird that was there. I also pop dotted the summer days. The hello sticker is from Simple Stories DIY.
Oh summer- won't you stay awhile longer.........

You Colour My World Layout

I am in love with circles lately! I find myself reaching for my circle punches alot. Especially for this colourful layout I made of me and my darling hubby. I used Doodlebug's Kraft in Color line with a splash of sprinkles, vellum, and petite prints. The title is from a variety of Doodlebug letter stickers. I was going to use sequins but they did not have enough pop for me so I used sprinkles instead. I had intentions of stitching some of the circles but I guess I am just lazy.....too much work to pull out the sewing machine, thread it, and get it done.....I have limited time when my little one naps so no stitiching!!! But I still think it looks good. I could have faux stitched too- maybe later. Have a colourful day!

At The Beach

Holidays are over and it is back to the daily routine! We had a very busy two weeks enjoying all that is summer. My son had his first camping trip, and I mean real camping in a tent. We had to buy a new tent so his portable crib would fit but I think we would have had to do that anyway, since our tent was pretty small. He was very excited but quickly got used to it and had some awesme 3 hour naps!!! This layout captures just how much fun he had at the beach playing in the sand. We lucked out and had gorgeous weather too.

I used Echo Park for this layout. I mixed lines but they were all the summer lines from over the years. I made clouds using scalloped circle vellum. Funny how pie charts have become very popular and this line had them on a piece of paper which I think was from 2 or 3 years ago.

I just want to finish by saying NEVER buy a little boy a bathing suit with white in it......you should see the colour of this suit now- it is DISGUSTING looking!!!! I almost want to buy a new one but since summer is almost over he might just have to keep wearing it........

Stay-cation Time!!!

My husband is off for 2 weeks and we are having a stay-cation this summer. We have been camping, swimming, splash parking, shopping, and just having fun in general. We plan to check out our new zoo exhibit Journey to Churchill next week and head back to the lake for more beach time!
All of that explains why I have been absent for a bit here on my blog. Too busy! I am posting two cards I made in the very little spare time I have had. First is a thank you card for my mom. I used old Echo Park summer paper for this card. Below is an Angry Birds card I made for my nephew who is turning 3 and loves Angry Birds. I cut the card by hand and despite my picture being a bit blurry (oops!), I think it turned out pretty good. I am sure he will like it.

And for good measure I thought I would throw in a picture of me on the boat! Summer is here and the weather has been perfect for our holidays! Yay Summer!!!!!
